Rating Guidelines

Cortera is the definitive source for information about how businesses pay their bills.  These guidelines ensure that all ratings are truthful, relevant, and fair. All submitted ratings must adhere to these standards:

TRUTHFULNESS

• All ratings must be truthful.
• Do not make false, fake, or defamatory statements.

RELEVANCE

• This site is for the exchange of business credit information only.  This site is not for posting general opinions, discussions, or commentary.
• Do not submit product reviews or consumer-related reviews (e.g., whether you had a good meal at this restaurant).
• Do not share pricing information or reveal confidential information about this business.

USEFULNESS

• All ratings should be based on how the company has paid you in the past – whether you received payment on time, late, or not at all.
• Do not use ratings in connection with a smear campaign against a business.  Encouraging others to boycott a business or adopt a specific credit policy could have legal consequences.
• Do not rate the owner or employees of the business – all ratings should be about your past payment experience with the business.
• Commercial e-mail addresses and contact information are not allowed in ratings, nor is promotional material of any kind.

ORIGINALITY

• Ratings must be original and must not contain any quoted materials from other sources.
• Ratings must be based on your experience with how businesses pay their bills, not second-hand information, rumors, unverified information, quotes from third parties, or hearsay.
• Do not use your rating to pose a question to another reviewer or to comment on another rating.  Click on the “Contact Reviewer” link if you wish to do those things.
• Do not use a rating as a method to speak to the owner or other representative of a business.
• Do not use a rating to ask a question to Cortera personnel.

COMMON SENSE

• No profanity, personally insulting language, threats, prejudiced comments, hate speech, sexually explicit language, or other inappropriate content.
• Follow standard etiquette when writing your rating. Do not use ALL CAPS, excessive typographic symbols, HTML tags or slang.

Cortera reserves the right to remove a rating at any time for any reason.  Cortera also reserves the right to disable the access of any Cortera member whose submitted ratings violate these Ratings Guidelines or the Terms of Service.

The ratings posted on Cortera are individual and subjective opinions. The opinions expressed in ratings are those of Cortera members and not of Cortera, Inc. We do not endorse any of the opinions expressed by reviewers. Cortera is not affiliated with any establishment listed or rated on this web site.
